What's New Lately- A YouTube Channel and College!

Hello gorgeous! It's been pretty quiet around the blog the past 6 or so months and I wanted to share an update about how life is going and what I've been up to. Because we're friends, right? And friends, totally need to catch up occasionally. So grab a cup of coffee (or hot cocoa, if your taste buds are like mine,) and let's chat!

Laura Rahel UNCC

First, I went back to school this year.

I was really nervous as it's my first time attending a major university and student loans can be so daunting. And let me tell ya, it has been hard! Real talk- the homework and studying never ends. My first two years of college were a breeze. But being a junior at a major university, has been WAY different and way more challenging.

My degree and career field (psychology) requires that I go to grad school. And the pressure of getting amazing grades so I get into an awesome grad school is a ton. It's all pressure I put on myself, which makes the whole thing seem silly; but it turns out that performing really well, academically, is important to me. If I'm going to do college, I want to do it well, ya know? haha. The studying has been at a Rory Gilmore level which is why I haven't been blogging very much the last 6 months.

Second, I started a crafty YouTube channel.

I just started using my YouTube channel finally and I am so excited to bring you crafty stuff in video format. So far, I've been sharing monthly unboxing videos of my Gossamer Blue kits and I hope in the future to bring crafty projects to the channel and a studio tour- whatever you want to see! So let me know what you'd like to see me do a video on and I'll put it on my list.

As you can see, I've been up to a lot! Which is why it's been quiet around here. But I'm hoping to get more intentional about blogging and making sure I'm sharing my life and projects with you here. Life is crazy and busy but I love this space and I love talking to you and sharing things with you. I hope you enjoyed some of these updates. I would love to hear what you think about them and what's going on in your life, too! Drop a comment below and let me know. <3

Mini Album Using Happy Planner Discs

Hello! Since I started using a Happy Planner, I've been dreaming of all the projects I could create using the cute discs that are available for the Happy Planner. So using the April 2016 Gossamer Blue kits, and some adorable mini disks from the Me and My Big Ideas shop, I created this gorgeous mini album for my sister, Ashley.

I filmed a flip through of the entire mini album too, so you can see all the pretty pages inside.

If you've seen any of my other mini albums like this one, you already know that I LOVE using vellum in them. I did the same in this mini album, using plain vellum and adding a sticker or two on top to make it gorgeous.

Here's a list of some of my favorite things I used to make this album- vellum, Maggie Holmes stickers, Amy Tan Better Together paperPebbles stickers, Happy Planner discs.

I created this mini album to remind my sis that even though we are thousands of miles apart, I love her and I'm always thinking of her. I wanted it to be about how much I love her, and how fabulous she is, so I printed some of my favorite photos of her and of the two of us and make this pretty little album. Then I sent to it to her as a "thinking about you" present. Yay!

Using the Happy Planner discs to bind the mini album made the pages turn so smoothly and it was a unique and pretty way to put together the mini album. Have you ever created a mini album using an unconventional method of binding it?

Using My Happy Planner for College Classes

It's back to school season and as much as I don't enjoy having so many classes to attend and tests to study for, I'm really excited about making this year the year of cute stationery. I'm currently using on of my Happy Planners by me and my BIG ideas to keep track of all my school obligations and to use for taking notes from class. I love having such a gorgeous set up for taking notes in class and for studying later. It makes the mundane, everyday things a little more bright and pretty.

I set up my classic Happy Planner by using a clear dashboard to separate my monthly + weekly planner pages from my class notes section in the back. I used some gorgeous washi tape to decorate my clear dashboard and to bring some color to it. I also added a pocket folder in the back to hold any paperwork from school or extra tidbits I need to hold on to. Me and my BIG ideas also has some fabulous lined paper inserts for their planners that I use to take my notes on. I love that the paper is thick and sturdy so I can use my Papermate flair pens and they don't bleed through.

I love how customizable the Happy Planner system is. I can add as many dashboards, folders, or note paper to it that I want. I can use it for one class or use dashboards to separate all of my different classes and take notes for all of them in the same place. To keep my college planner/notebook from getting too thick or heavy (since I do carry it to class with me,) I store my notes until after I take a test on that chapter or section, and then I take those notes out and recycle them if there won't be any more testing on that material in the future.

One of the best things about using adorable stationery in college is that you'll make new friends because of it. When I pull out my planner to take notes, I always get compliments or questions about the system I'm using. Bonding with other gals who also appreciate cute paper? Best thing ever! I even met some girls in one of my classes who also use the Happy Planner system and we took turns looking through each other's planners and getting new ideas for how to use our own.

Supplies used- Picture Quote Happy Planner, Dashboard Inserts, Teal Mini Disks, Papermate Flair Pens, Note PaperPocket Cards, Binder Clips, Washi Tape.

Being a junior in college is hard. There's a lot of homework, tests, and stress. But cute stationery and notebooks makes it a lot more fun to get through it all. I'm so happy there's an awesome system like this, compared to the dull notebook options I had back in high school haha. What do you use to take notes in class? Leave a comment below and let me know!
